New Horizon Experience. This article describes the New Horizon Experience, which is available now. As of September 28, 2026, New Horizon is the default starting point on a computer or laptop. In the Horizon WebRef mobile apps for Android and iOS, New Horizon is already what you see. If you still have the older layout, choose Switch to New Horizon from the banner or your account menu. You can switch back to Legacy Horizon from that menu any time during the transition.
This article is for officials using the Availability Calendar (on a phone the title may read Availability). Open it from Availability in the menu when you are signed in. Use this article when a day shows a padlock, when you cannot flip that day, or when you see a notice that the day has been locked by your officiating organization.

What a locked day looks like
When your organization uses Lock Availability While Assigning, some days lock after you receive an assignment. A locked day shows a padlock on the calendar square. You can still see whether that day was available or unavailable, but you cannot change it.
On a computer, the same month uses the wider Availability Calendar layout, and the padlock sits on that day the same way.
The notice you see
Tap or click the locked day. Horizon does not open Advanced Availability for that day. Instead you see a notice such as: October 12 2026 has been locked by your officiating organization and cannot be edited. The date in the sentence matches the day you selected.
On a computer, the same notice appears when you click the locked day.
If Bulk Edit or Recurring Availability includes locked days, Horizon tells you how many days in that range are locked and cannot be edited.
Why your organization locks days
Organization administrators choose the rule in System Settings under Feature #3, Lock Availability While Assigning. They can lock only while offers are still open, lock after declines as well, lock a day permanently once any assignment exists, or turn locking Off. If you need a locked day changed, ask your assignor or an organization administrator. They can update your calendar for you in Simulation Mode when your organization's rule still has that day locked for you.
If you still see the older layout
On the older desktop or laptop Availability Calendar, a locked day may show a message such as This day is locked. No further edits can be made. The reason is the same Feature #3 setting. New Horizon uses the padlock and the longer notice that names the date.
