New Horizon Experience. This article describes the New Horizon Experience, which is available now. In the Horizon WebRef mobile apps for Android and iOS, New Horizon is already what you see. On a computer or laptop you see it when you are in New Horizon. If you still have the older layout, choose Try the New Horizon Experience from the banner or your account menu. You can switch back from that menu any time.
This article covers the U.S. Soccer card on Personal Profile in HorizonWebRef. Officials link the 16-digit U.S. Soccer ID from the Learning Center so Horizon can show licenses, the latest background-check status, and a U.S. Soccer safeguarding check. Assignors and organization administrators see that same full status when they open an official's profile or U.S. Soccer status from the Members Directory. Observers and other officials do not see another person's U.S. Soccer card.
Use it when you want your U.S. Soccer status in one place, or when someone assigning games needs to see whether your licenses, background check, and safeguarding are current. Only the account holder can link, refresh, or unlink on Personal Profile. Organization administrators can also Find and link from the directory for someone who is not linked yet. Horizon does not change your assignments from this information. The rest of Personal Profile is in Personal Profile. Directory steps are in How to use the Members Directory.
How it works
Your U.S. Soccer ID belongs to you, not to one organization. After you link it, Horizon can show the licenses and status that the Learning Center returns for that person. Linking does not write those licenses into the organization Personal ID or Certification fields, and it does not change Rank or who is eligible for a game.
The U.S. Soccer card appears at the top of Connections when you are signed into a U.S. soccer organization. If you already linked an ID, the card stays on Connections even when you switch into hockey or another sport. There is no separate organization switch that turns this on. Linking your ID is how you set it up.
The safeguarding line is a U.S. Soccer safeguarding check. It is not a Horizon eligibility decision. League Personnel, observers, and other officials do not see another person's licenses, background check, or safeguarding result.
Open Connections
Sign in and open Personal Profile. You usually land on Overview. Open the Connections tile, or choose Connections from the sidebar on a larger screen. On a phone, use Back to overview when you want to return to the tile list.
If you belong to more than one organization, switch into a U.S. soccer organization when you need the card to appear for the first time. After the ID is linked, you can open Connections from any of your organizations and still see it.
Link your U.S. Soccer ID
When the card says Not linked, the heading is Link your ID. The field label is U.S. Soccer ID, and the empty field shows 16-digit ID. That number is the U.S. Soccer ID from the Learning Center. It is not your organization Personal ID, and it is not a Social Security number.
Type the 16 digits and choose Link. If you do not have the number handy, choose Find my U.S. Soccer ID. Horizon searches with the primary or secondary email on this profile first, then with your first name, last name, and date of birth. The hint on the card is We will search with the primary or secondary email on this profile first.
A match links that ID in the same step. You may see U.S. Soccer ID linked. No match means those details do not line up with your Learning Center profile. More than one match opens a window titled Choose your U.S. Soccer ID. Each choice can show the Learning Center name, 16-digit ID, email, and date of birth. Choose Use this ID to link that record, or Cancel. If that window cannot list the records, type the 16-digit ID yourself and choose Link. Linking a typed ID still needs the Learning Center email to be the primary or secondary email on this profile. A matching date of birth alone is not enough to link a typed ID.
After it is linked
The card says Linked, the heading becomes Your U.S. Soccer status, and Horizon lists your licenses. Each license has a name, small category chips such as Referee or Coach, an Active or Expired badge, and the issued and expiration dates. On a phone, licenses stack in one column.
On a computer, the same card uses the wider layout, with licenses two across.
The card also shows the latest Background check status and a Safeguarding check. Background-check wording can be Approved, Not approved, Cancelled, Not submitted, Submitted, or Pending. The safeguarding line can say you are not on the U.S. Soccer safeguarding list, you are on that list, or the check is not available. Last updated shows when Horizon last received a status.
Use Refresh when you want Horizon to pull the latest status. A successful refresh reads U.S. Soccer status updated. If you need to change the number, use Update ID, enter the new 16 digits, and link again.
Unlink asks you to confirm with the title Unlink U.S. Soccer ID? The window explains that Horizon will stop receiving license and safeguarding updates, and that your U.S. Soccer record is not deleted. Confirm with Unlink, or choose Cancel. After it is unlinked you see U.S. Soccer ID unlinked.
What you and schedulers see on a profile
When you open your own profile, or when an assignor or organization administrator opens yours, the U.S. Soccer card shows Linked or Not linked, each license name with Active or Expired, the latest Background check, and the Safeguarding line. It does not include the 16-digit ID, Find, Link, Refresh, or Unlink. Those stay on Connections for the account holder, and Find and link for someone else stays on Members Directory U.S. Soccer status for organization administrators.
On a computer, that same card sits in the profile beside contact details.
Observers and other officials do not see another person's U.S. Soccer card. League Personnel do not see another person's licenses, background check, or safeguarding.
Review status from the Members Directory
In a U.S. soccer organization, assignors and organization administrators open U.S. Soccer status from Utilities on the Members Directory. That list shows linked and unlinked officials, each license, background-check status, and safeguarding. Use Search by name or license to narrow the list. Details opens the profile over the list. Organization administrators can choose Find and link for someone who is not linked, or Link All to search everyone who is not linked. Horizon searches one person at a time and waits between searches. Keep the window open until it finishes. You can choose Stop to end the queue early. People searched recently are skipped, and you cannot start another Link All right away. Horizon searches with that official's emails, then name and date of birth. There is no place to type or paste an ID on that list. When more than one record matches during Link All, that person is left for you to Find and link and choose the correct ID.
On a computer, the same window uses a table so you can scan several people at once.
Expiration emails
You receive an email 60 days and 30 days before a license or background check expires. Organization administrators in your U.S. soccer organizations, and assignors who have you on an upcoming assignment, receive an email when a license or background check expires or is removed. Those staff messages include your next scheduled game when there is one. Horizon still does not change assignments from this information. Safeguarding is not part of those reminder emails.
If something does not work
Start with the message on the page, then try the matching idea below.
The U.S. Soccer card is missing: Switch into a U.S. soccer organization, or link the ID once from that organization so the card can follow you.
U.S. Soccer ID will not link: Confirm the 16-digit ID. Make sure the email on your Learning Center profile is the primary or secondary email on Personal Profile. A matching date of birth alone is not enough to link a typed ID. If the page says Please wait 47 seconds before trying again. (or another remaining count), wait that many seconds before you try again. Simulation sessions cannot link or unlink.
Find my U.S. Soccer ID finds no match: Check that your Learning Center email is the primary or secondary email on Personal Profile. If those emails still do not find a record, confirm your date of birth, then try again or type the 16-digit ID.
More than one record matched: Choose your record in the Choose your U.S. Soccer ID window, or type the 16-digit ID if that window does not appear.
Could not refresh: If the page shows a remaining wait, wait that many seconds, then try Refresh again.
No licenses: The card can say no active licenses were returned for this U.S. Soccer ID. Refresh after the Learning Center shows a license, or confirm you linked the correct ID.
If you still see the older layout
On a computer or laptop, the older legacy layout stays until you choose Try the New Horizon Experience from the banner or your account menu. The U.S. Soccer card, expiration emails described here, and Members Directory U.S. Soccer status live only in New Horizon. The older all-in-one profile form does not have this connection. Until that older layout is retired, use the English words you see there, and switch to New Horizon when you want to link a U.S. Soccer ID.
