New Horizon Experience. This article describes the New Horizon Experience. In the Horizon WebRef mobile apps for Android and iOS, New Horizon is already what you see. On a computer or laptop, choose Try the New Horizon Experience from the banner or your account menu. You can switch back from that menu any time.
This article is about the short welcome screen and the practice page that follow when you first switch to New Horizon on a computer or laptop. The welcome heading is Welcome to the New Horizon Experience. The practice page is titled A look around New Horizon.
It applies to every signed-in member who just chose Try the New Horizon Experience in a web browser: officials, assignors, coaches, observers, League Personnel, and organization administrators. You do not turn this walkthrough on, and an organization administrator cannot skip it for you. The Horizon WebRef mobile apps for Android and iOS already use New Horizon, so they never show this first look-around.
Use these steps when that welcome is on your screen, when the practice cards will not move forward, or when Go to Home sends you back to the start. After you finish, the everyday menus are covered in How to find your way around New Horizon. The reason for the change is in Why we are switching to the New Horizon Experience.
Start on the welcome screen
On a computer or laptop, choose Try the New Horizon Experience from the banner or your account menu. Horizon then opens the welcome. You will see the Horizon mark, the line The New Horizon Experience, and the heading Welcome to the New Horizon Experience (it can include your first name). Under that is a short note that the same tools are ready on phones, tablets, and larger screens.
On a computer, the same welcome fills the window, with the same heading and button.
Choose Take a look around. The hint under the button says the first look-around is required. That first pass is the only way through. Go to Home does not appear on this welcome until you have already finished the practice look-around.

Walk through the practice page
The next screen is A look around New Horizon. The lead line tells you this is a practice page. Nothing you tap here changes a real game, assignment, or organization record. Sample rows, a sample window, and a sample side panel are only for learning.
On a computer, the same practice page uses the wider layout, with the look-around card next to the sample list.
The cards are titled Getting around New Horizon. Follow each one in order. Some cards let you choose Next right away. Others wait until you tap the highlighted control, such as the language flag, Utilities, a sample row, the arrow on the right of a row, the control that collapses or opens the left menu, or your name or photo.
On a computer, language starts at the flag in the top bar. On a phone browser, language lives in the account menu, and you open and close the left menu instead of collapsing it. The card tells you which control to use. Links inside the left menu and most account-menu items will not take you away while the look-around is running.
When a card asks you to try Dark Theme, tap that item. The next card asks you to tap Light Theme so you return to Light Theme. You do not need to tap My Profile, Switch to legacy Horizon, Share Feedback on New Horizon, Help Center, Tech Support, Switch Groups, or Logout. The cards only show you where those items live.
Finish with Go to Home
The last card is titled You are ready. It says you finished the tour. Choose Go to Home to open your real games, availability, and directory. Choose Stay on this page if you want to tap around on the practice page first. Menus and links work again after you choose.
On a computer, that same last card offers the same two choices.
After you finish, Go to Home can also appear on the welcome screen and on the practice page title row. Use those only after the last card. That is when Horizon remembers you are done and stops asking you to walk through again.
If you get stuck
If Next is missing, the card is waiting for a tap. Read the card, then tap the highlighted control. The tour continues when that menu, window, or panel opens or closes, just as the card describes.
On a computer, the same kind of card points at the control and waits for that tap.
If you pick a different language, the page reloads and the look-around starts again in that language. That is expected. Stay on the language you want, then continue.
Refreshing the page in the middle of the look-around starts the cards over from the first step. Finish the current card before you reload. Closing the browser or signing out before You are ready can send you back to the welcome the next time you open Horizon on that computer.
If you already chose Go to Home on the last card and the welcome still returns, sign out, sign back in, and open Members Home once more. If the welcome still repeats, open your account menu and choose Tech Support. Chat with the AI Assistant, and ask it to talk to a person if you need a human at Horizon.
