New Horizon Experience. This article describes the New Horizon Experience. You can follow these steps on a computer or in the Horizon WebRef mobile apps for Android and iOS.
This article covers the League Management Module in HorizonWebRef: the optional add-on that adds standings, team rosters, score reporting, infraction review, and suspensions to an officiating organization.
It is for organization administrators who buy and set up the add-on, for assignors who review results, and for coaches and athletic directors who submit rosters and scores. Officials who are not General Members can open standings when the module is on. Use this article when you want the league side of Horizon, not only the assignment schedule.
If you still see the older desktop or laptop layout, the names on Administrative Forms match the steps below. Penalty types and severities is part of the New Horizon Experience. On that older layout, League Module Settings does not include that list.
What the module is for
Horizon already schedules officials. The League Management Module adds the league office work that sits next to that schedule. After a game starts, a home coach can enter both scores. When you ask for it, that same report can include infractions chosen from names you maintain. Organization administrators then review those infractions, mark the ones they have handled, and issue a suspension when someone must be held out. Standings read the two scores and show place. Rosters keep jersey numbers and names so the offender list is the live team, not a blank box.
You do not need every piece. Some organizations only want scores and standings. Others also want infractions and suspensions. League Module Settings is where you choose.
Turn the module on
The League Management Module is an optional add-on. It is not included in a standard subscription. Organization administrators add it in System Settings under Add-Ons.
Open the League Management Module card. The card explains that you get standings calculations, penalty and infraction reporting, suspension issuing, and more. After you add it, those tools appear on Administrative Forms.
The cost is $1.20 USD per license, per year. The add-on has a free 14-day trial. You can add it with no upfront cost to try the tools. Your first charge occurs automatically on day 14 if the module is not canceled before the trial ends. Pricing for the main Horizon subscription is separate. See Available Add-On Services for the other optional services on that same list.
If the league links are missing from Administrative Forms, the add-on is off or the trial ended without a purchase. Return to Add-Ons and use Add service or Manage on that card.
Find the league tools
Sign in and open Administrative Forms. Under Management Forms you will see the league links when the module is on.
League Module Settings is the setup page. League Penalties and League Suspensions appear when penalty reporting is required. Team Rosters appears when rosters are required. Missing Game Scores appears when scores are required. Your organization may use Team, Game, or League as different words. The same links follow those words.
Coaches and athletic directors also reach a roster from the team schedule with Submit roster, and they report a score from that schedule or from a missing-score list after the game has started. Officials and organization administrators can open Edit Game Scores from Utilities on game details.
Choose what coaches must submit
Open League Module Settings. The title uses your organization word for League. The hint is Choose what home coaches must submit when reporting results.
Each choice is Yes or No.
Require scores from home coaches is the score report itself. When this is Yes, home coaches enter both scores after the game has started, and organization administrators get Missing Game Scores.
Require penalty reporting from home coaches adds an Infractions section to that same report. When this is Yes, you also get League Penalties and League Suspensions, and rosters become required so the offender list has names.
Require rosters from coaches turns on Team Rosters. When penalty reporting is required, this control stays on Yes. The hint says When penalty reporting is required, rosters are also required. Erasing rosters cannot be undone.
Choose Save League Module Settings when you are done. A short confirmation says the settings were saved.
Erase all rosters
Erase all rosters removes every roster in the organization. You are asked Delete all rosters? The warning is that this erases all existing rosters and cannot be undone. Confirm with Permanently delete, or choose Keep rosters. After a delete, the confirmation says all rosters are now empty. Use this only when you mean to start over.
Build the infraction list coaches will see
When penalty reporting is Yes, League Module Settings shows Penalty types and severities and a count such as 3 types and 3 severities. If the lists are empty you see Add at least one penalty type and one severity so home coaches can report infractions.
Open that button. The panel title is the same: Penalty types and severities. The hint is Home coaches pick these names when they report an infraction.
Penalty types become the Infraction list on the score report. Severities become the Severity list. Type a Name and choose Add, or press Enter. To rename, change the name in the row and leave the field or press Enter. Escape puts the previous name back.
The trash control is Delete for that name. You are asked Delete this name? The body says coaches will no longer see this name when reporting an infraction. Confirm with Delete or Keep.
A name that is already on a reported infraction cannot be deleted. That row stays so older reports still show what was chosen. If you try, you see that the name is already used on a reported infraction. Two names on the same list cannot match, even if the capitalization is different.
This list is not an incident report. Incident reports still use a short typed description. Score reporting uses only the names you add here.
Keep a team roster
Open Team Rosters from Administrative Forms, or use Submit roster on the team schedule if you are a coach or athletic director. The page title is Team roster. The subtitle is Keep this team ready with current members.
Choose the team at the top. On a large screen the switcher sits on the same row as Import spreadsheet and Clear roster. Counters show Members, Players, and Coaches. You can filter with All members, Players, or Coaches.
To add someone, choose a Number and enter a Name with first and last name, then choose Add member or press Enter. Number can be Coach, 0, 00, or 1 through 99. Zero and double-zero are different numbers. After a name saves, the next unused number is ready and the name box is cleared so you can keep going. Choose Save roster when the list looks right. A short confirmation says the roster was saved.
If the roster is empty you see No members yet and Add a member or import a spreadsheet to fill this roster.
The remove control on a row asks Remove this member? The body says the member will be removed and will no longer appear on the live roster, and that past reports still show the name. Confirm with Remove member.
Clear roster asks Clear this entire roster? You type the phrase Clear roster to confirm. That removes every member on that team.
Import a spreadsheet
Choose Import spreadsheet. The wizard title is Import rosters. The subtitle is Add or update members from a spreadsheet. Confirm before anything is changed.
First choose an Import type. Amend existing members adds new members and updates matches. Others stay as they are. Replace the list adds or updates rows in the file, then removes active members on those teams that are not in the file. The coach hint says amend keeps members that are not in the file, and replace removes unused members on the teams in the file.
When you open import from one team, the import is locked to that team. Other team names in the file are blocked.
Download a template if you do not already have a file. Columns are Team, Number, and Name. Number must be Coach or 0 through 99. Then check the preview. Warnings mean an existing member will be updated. Rows that need a fix must be corrected before import. Replace asks you to type a confirmation phrase such as DELETE 1 MEMBER or DELETE %n MEMBERS before anything is removed.
Report scores and infractions
Scores can be reported after the game has started. You cannot report a future game. Enter a whole number from 0 to 999 for Home and Away. Both scores are required.
Home coaches and athletic directors report from the team schedule or from Report score on Missing Game Scores. Organization administrators and officials can open the same form from Edit Game Scores on game details. The page title is Report scores. The subtitle is Enter the score for this game.
How scoring works says to enter both scores, and to add infractions only when the organization requires them. Existing infractions stay as they were reported.
When penalty reporting is on, the Infractions section is there. Choose Add infraction. For each row you pick an Offender from the live roster, an Infraction, a Severity, and the period that matches the sport. Hockey uses Period and Time on Clock as two lists for minutes and seconds. Football and lacrosse use Quarter. Soccer uses Half. Baseball and softball use Inning, including Extra Inning, without a clock. Other sports use Period, Quarter, or Inning. Choose Submit scores when you are done.
After a score has been reported, a coach or athletic director cannot change it. An official can still update it. If you open the form too early you see that scores can be reported after the game has started. If score reporting is off, the form says score reporting is turned off for this organization.
Missing game scores
Open Missing Game Scores when you need a list of past games that still need a score. The title is Missing game scores. The subtitle is Past games that still need a score.
The Missing counter is the number of past games in the current season without a reported score. Search by team or date, then choose Apply. Each row shows When, Home Team, and Team personnel. If no coach or athletic director is listed you see No coach or athletic director is listed. Then Report score opens the same score form. If every past game has a score you see No missing scores.
Review infractions and issue a suspension
Open League Penalties to review what was reported. The title is League penalties. The subtitle is Review reported infractions and close the ones you have handled.
Cards show Open, Reviewed, and Selected. Search by name, team, or game, then choose Apply. Open only hides infractions that are already reviewed. Status can be Open, Reviewed, or Suspended. Columns include When, Offender, Team, Infraction, and Status. Game details opens that game.
Select one or more open rows with Select all or Select none, then choose Mark reviewed. You are asked Mark these as reviewed? The body says those open infractions will be closed and reminders will stop. Afterward you see Marked as reviewed.
If nothing has been reported this season you see No infractions this season and Reported infractions will appear here after scores include them. That empty page is expected until coaches add infractions on a score report.
Issue a suspension
On an open infraction that is not already suspended, choose Issue suspension. The page title is Issue suspension. The subtitle is Set the length and notify team personnel.
Who this is for matches the reported infraction. Under Length, enter a Quantity greater than zero and a Unit of Game or Day. Additional information is optional. Coaches and athletic directors will see the Reason. Confirm with Issue this suspension now? The body says the member will be suspended and team personnel will be emailed. Choose Issue suspension.
A short confirmation says the suspension was issued. If the email cannot be sent, the suspension is still saved and you are told the email could not be sent. You cannot issue a second suspension for the same infraction.
See issued suspensions
Open League Suspensions. The title is League suspensions. The subtitle is See suspensions issued this season.
Cards show Issued, Games, and Days. Search by name or team, then choose Apply. Each row shows Issued, Member, Team, Length, and Reason. Length reads as a number of games or a number of days. If none have been issued you see No suspensions this season.
Standings
Standings use the two scores on each game. They are a separate page. See How to use Standings for saved standings, points, ranking, and the older calculator layout. If you see Standings are turned off for this organization, the league module is off.
On Game Structure, each League has Use standings. Turn that on for Leagues that should be included when Horizon creates the first saved standing.
On the older desktop or laptop layout
If a computer still shows the older Administrative Forms list, the same work lives under the same names: League Module Settings, League Penalties, League Suspensions, Team Rosters, and Missing Game Scores. Those older windows do not include Penalty types and severities. Use the New Horizon Experience when you need to add or rename those names. Score reporting, roster import, and standings still follow the same ideas: both scores, a live roster for offenders, and standings from reported results.
