New Horizon Experience. This article describes the New Horizon Experience, which is available now. In the Horizon WebRef mobile apps for Android and iOS, New Horizon is already what you see. On a computer or laptop you see it when you are in New Horizon. If you still have the older layout, choose Try the New Horizon Experience from the banner or your account menu. You can switch back from that menu any time.
Both layouts are in use right now. In the Horizon WebRef mobile apps for Android and iOS you see the New Horizon Experience. On a computer or laptop, the older legacy layout stays until you choose Try the New Horizon Experience from the banner or your account menu. Match the steps to the screen in front of you. When a control or rule exists on only one layout, this article says so. The steps below start with the New Horizon Experience in the apps, then cover that older desktop or laptop layout.
This article covers TBA Requests in HorizonWebRef - the Schedule view where officials browse and claim TBA (to-be-announced) assignment opportunities when your organization enables swaps/TBA.
Open it from Schedule when TBA Requests is available to you. Use this article when you are finding open TBA slots, responding to requests, posting one of your own accepted games, or managing your TBA responses. Your personal accepted games live on My Schedule; coaches use Team Schedule.
Who sees TBA Requests
You must be signed in as an official for an organization that has TBA requests turned on (including fellow-official posts when your organization allows them). If TBA requests are not enabled for your organization, this view is not available to you.
Assignors and other non-official roles do not normally see this browse view. Officials and assignors use different Schedule views, so if you only see Team or Master Schedule options, you are not on the TBA Requests role path.
Browse the list
Games load as you scroll. There is no separate Load more button. On larger screens you see a table. On phones you choose Compact (more games on screen) or Detailed (more information per game). Compact cards stay short. The table and Detailed cards also show pay: a range when your assignor posted the game and open positions pay different amounts, a single amount when they pay the same (or when a fellow official posted their assignment), and nothing when the assignor-posted positions all pay zero.
A colored accent on each row or card tells you who posted the TBA request:
Orange means it was posted by your assignor. Officials who can see the listing can request it. Ranking does not hide it.
Blue (sky) means a fellow official posted it. Requesting it, if you are selected, would take over that official's spot on the game.
A short legend near the top of the page explains what each color means. The result count badge shows how many open games currently match your filters.
Filters and quick filters
Change the date range from the calendar control on the top bar (it defaults to the next 30 days). That control applies as soon as you choose a range. It is separate from the Filters panel.
On a phone in the Horizon WebRef app, Filters is the funnel icon on that same top bar. It does not say Filters, and it is not the older filter row that used to sit on the page. Tap the funnel to open a side panel from the right. Set the options you want, then tap Apply Filters at the bottom of the panel. A red number on the funnel means Filters besides the date range are on. Quick filters is the nearby icon with stacked lines and is a separate menu for saved sets.
On a larger screen the same funnel still opens that side panel. The Filters panel can include:
Leagues - when your organization uses leagues
Game Code - the standalone game-code filter (it may still say Types on the panel)
Teams - when your organization uses teams
Locations
Status - not cancelled, cancelled only, or all
Sorting order - choose how the list is ordered. Open this card in Filters, set Sort #1, Sort #2, and Sort #3, then tap Apply Filters. You can sort by Date, Time, Location, Home, Away, or ID when those columns apply. Location sorts by the location name. Home and Away appear when your organization uses teams. ID appears when game IDs are shown.
If you have not saved or remembered a sort, TBA Requests starts with Date, then Time, then Location. The Master Game Schedule is the exception: it starts with Date, then Location, then Time when nothing is saved.
Reset Filters restores the default date window, the default sort for this schedule, and clears the other filters.
When you are signed in, TBA Requests remembers the filters and card density you last used, including Sorting order, for a period of time. Those remembered settings stay separate from other schedule surfaces. Sorting does not count toward the red number on Filters.
Save named Quick filters for combinations you reuse often, such as one league or a particular type of game. A named Quick filter also stores the sort that was on when you saved it. Apply, or delete them from the Quick filters menu. You can keep a limited number of quick filters per organization.
Use the density buttons next to the date range to switch between Compact and Detailed cards on phones.
Request an open game
Choose Request on any row or card to start a TBA request.
The page first checks that the time does not conflict with one of your existing assignments. If it does, you will see a Schedule Conflict notice and cannot continue with that request.
If there is no conflict, you choose a Position from the positions still open for that game, then confirm. If no positions appear, contact your assignor to verify that the Needed Per Game value is set correctly for the relevant positions. If you are later selected, you will receive an email confirming the assignment. Sending a request does not guarantee you will be assigned; your assignor still makes the final decision.
Once your request is in, the button on that row changes to Retract so you can tell at a glance which games you have already requested.
View game details and directions
Tap a card or row, or choose Details next to Request or Retract, to open the same style of game details used on Public Schedule. The details show the matchup, the start and end time, the full venue name and address, who is already assigned, and the same pay shown on the table and Detailed cards (a range, a single amount, or nothing when the assignor-posted positions all pay zero).
When an address is on file, tap the location to get directions in Google Maps, Apple Maps, or Waze. Use this when you are stacking games and need to see whether two fields are close enough, and how much time you have between them.
Retract a request
Choose Retract on a row where you already requested a game, then confirm. This removes your request. If the game remains open, you can request it again later.
My Responses
Choose My Responses in the header to open a side panel listing the TBA requests you have made. This is a convenient way to review everything you have requested without scrolling back through the full list. Closing the panel returns you to TBA Requests, and the list refreshes automatically if anything changed while the panel was open.
When your account is not fully approved
If your account has not yet been fully approved for the organization, a notice appears explaining that requesting open games is disabled until your assignor approves your account. You can still browse the list, open Details, and use filters while you wait; only the Request and Retract actions are unavailable.
Post your own accepted game
When your organization turns on official posts, you can offer one of your accepted games so another official can request that spot. You stay on the game until you award it. Organization administrators turn this on in System Settings with Feature #52. Feature #51 turns on TBA Requests itself. If you do not see the post action, those settings are off, the game is in the past, it is a meeting, it is already posted, or your organization excluded it from TBA.
Start on My Schedule, not on TBA Requests. Open Actions on an accepted future game, then choose Post as TBA Request.
On a computer, the same screen uses the wider layout.
The form is titled Post as TBA Request. Under Who can request this assignment? choose one audience:
All officials - every official in your organization can see it on TBA Requests. Ranking does not hide it.
Selected contact groups - only people in the groups you pick can see it.
Selected officials - only the people you pick can see it.
When you choose Selected contact groups, the Contact groups list shows groups you created, groups that give you edit permission, or groups that were shared with you. Being a member of a group is not enough to send to it. If the list is empty, you will see You do not have any contact groups you can send to. Create a group on Contact Groups, or ask someone to share a group with you. Open Contact Groups to create a group, or ask the group owner to share it. Help for creating and filling groups is in How to create Contact Groups and How to add people to contact groups.
You can add an optional note (leave it blank, or write at least 10 characters). Choose Post TBA Request to finish. After it is posted, Actions on that game shows a TBA request section with TBA responses and Retract TBA request. Retracting removes the listing and any responses. You keep the assignment and can post it again later.
How assignors send TBA listings
Assignors and organization administrators send listings from Master Game Schedule. Organization administrators turn the TBA system on in System Settings with Feature #51. Feature #52 lets officials post an accepted game so another official can take that spot, as described above.
In the New Horizon Experience, select one or more games, then choose Send TBA from Actions on the red bar that pins after you select. Choose who should see the listing. Those people get a notification and can open TBA Requests. Retract TBA removes the listing from the selected games. A TBA chip on a game stays quiet until someone responds, then shows the count.
A request is not an assignment. Review responses in Assign on that game, then assign the people you want. Eligible means the person qualifies after all rules, including the availability calendar. Available means only the calendar.
Manual ranking does not hide a TBA request. Officials who are allowed to see the listing (everyone, a contact group, or named people) still see it on TBA Requests even when their rank does not meet a position requirement. If they respond, Assign may list that response on Ineligible. The why text can say Ranking is below the requirement for a position. You can still assign them if you choose to override. Contact groups and named people still control who can see the listing. Ranking does not.
If you still see the older legacy desktop or laptop layout
On desktop or laptop, TBA Requests may still use the older layout until you choose Try the New Horizon Experience from the banner or your account menu. Assignors still turn the TBA system on in System Settings with Feature #51. Feature #52 lets officials post their own accepted games so another official can take the spot.
On that older layout, filters sit in a Schedule Search & Filter bar. Sorting order is the three lists on that bar. If you have not set a sort, the older layout starts with Date, then Location, then Time. Those older filters, including sort, stay for this sign-in and reset the next time you sign in, unless you click Set Default to keep the current filters (including sort) as your saved defaults. The default date range you can set in Personal Profile is separate and does not save sort.
In that older layout, assignors send listings from Send TBAs on the top toolbar of Master Game Schedule. Officials open TBA Requests in the navigation menu when listings are waiting (the link hides when nothing is open). Respond with the icon to the right of a listing. Officials who can post their own listing use the send icon on the far right of an accepted game on their Game Schedule, then use View Responses to transfer the game. The New Horizon Experience lets officials choose Any as a request option even when no specific positions are listed. The older legacy desktop layout does not. Encourage officials to use the New Horizon Experience for more flexibility when submitting TBA requests.
Submitting a request still does not assign the game. Your assignor reviews responses and assigns later. If you see no open positions - contact assignor, the league, game code, or positions for that game need to be set up before anyone can respond. Also confirm that the Needed Per Game value for the relevant positions is greater than zero, because that setting controls whether positions are available for TBA requests.
