New Horizon Experience. This article describes the New Horizon Experience, which is available now. As of September 28, 2026, New Horizon is the default starting point on a computer or laptop. In the Horizon WebRef mobile apps for Android and iOS, New Horizon is already what you see. If you still have the older layout, choose Switch to New Horizon from the banner or the top-right account menu (or top-left for RTL language users). You can switch back to Legacy Horizon from that menu any time during the transition.
This article covers System Settings in HorizonWebRef - the organization configuration page where administrators turn features on or off and set association-wide options.
It is for organization administrators with settings access. Use it when you need to change how your association behaves (scheduling options, feature gates, labels, and related controls). Everyday members do not open System Settings.
Who can open System Settings
You need organization administrator access to System Settings (or you must be the designated System Owner). At least one administrator should review System Settings about every six months when the software asks for a settings review.
Finding your way around
The upgraded System Settings page works like Personal Profile. You land on Overview with shortcut tiles into each area. On larger screens a left sidebar jumps between sections. On a phone, open a section from the tiles, then use Back to overview to return.
Areas include Organization, Subscription, Add-Ons, Global Fees, Features & Settings, Defaults, Preferences, and Integrations. Names may differ slightly from older tab labels, but the same business settings live here.
Saving changes
Most sections save automatically a moment after you change a field. Some actions still ask you to confirm first (for example requiring policy acknowledgment). After a successful save you usually see a short confirmation such as Saved. If a card still shows unsaved changes, wait for the save to finish before leaving the section.
Organization
Maintain your organization name, billing contact, System Owner, address, and phone. Edit the organization logo from the pencil control on the logo in the page header (upload, crop to a square, or remove). The System Owner is the primary contact for members and Horizon support and can edit the Message from the Administrator on the home page. Only one System Owner exists at a time.
Association color themes from older System Settings are not available here. Members use the product light and dark appearance preferences instead.
Subscription and Add-Ons
Subscription shows your package, licenses, balance, and electronic payment history. Buy more licenses when your plan allows. Add-Ons is the marketplace for optional services such as custom SMS, developer API access, extended archiving, and related modules. Use Add, Manage, and Settings on each add-on card as needed.
Global Fees and Defaults
Global Fees apply organization-wide deductions or invoice fees. Design your detailed pay scales on Positions. Defaults open with the season (or fiscal year) start month - one of the most important settings on the page. Set it to the month you begin using the system for the new season, not the month games begin; the end month and years update automatically, and counters can take up to 12 hours to fully recalculate after a change. Defaults also cover sport, mass-email limits, default officials per game, start time, game length, assignment limits, turnback windows, and related operational defaults. Each member chooses their own display language in Personal Profile.
Features & Settings
This is the most-used area. Every option has a fixed Feature # that matches Help Center articles and training (for example Feature #1 Auto-Assign, Feature #21 Public Schedule). Numbers do not renumber when a feature is hidden for your sport.
Seeing what is on
Use the All / On / Off filters and search by number or label. Rows that are on are visually emphasized so you can scroll and audit quickly. Each row has an info icon with a short tooltip. Where a dedicated Help Center article exists, a small help link opens that article in a new tab.
Common feature groups
Assigning and availability (including Auto-Assign and availability locking), block systems, structure (teams and leagues), acceptance and auto-decline, public schedule and coach visibility, game reports and ratings, payroll display options, and miscellaneous tools such as mileage, incidents, forums, TBA, and swaps.
Gear icons on Auto-Assign and Ratings open detailed settings windows. Custom profile fields open from Preferences.
Preferences and Integrations
Preferences cover terminology labels, date and time formats, time zone, currency, custom field visibility, and the optional annual policy acknowledgment. You can print the full organization policy from Preferences (and from the policy editor or preview). Printed copies clearly state that the policy belongs to your organization, not Horizon. You can also open a roster of approved members to see who has acknowledged the policy and print that list. For newer acknowledgments, you can open a printable acceptance record that shows the policy wording that member accepted, along with date, IP address, a unique content check code, and a Horizon verification code you can check again in System Settings. Older acknowledgments may show the date only. Integrations (formerly Synchronize) is where you connect services such as SportsEngine and manage developer-related tokens for future connectors.
Biannual review
When Horizon asks for a settings review, follow the banner, walk the areas that apply to your organization, then confirm. Confirming stamps that an administrator reviewed the configuration.
Tips for new administrators
Start on Overview, set Organization identity and System Owner, then review Defaults and Features & Settings with the On filter after you finish. Prefer leaving sensitive options such as SSN and bank collection off unless you have a clear compliance need. Use Help Center articles linked from Feature rows when a setting is unfamiliar.
If you still see the older legacy desktop or laptop layout
On a computer or laptop, System Settings is one wide page with orange tabs. The header shows System Settings and your organization number. Move between tabs such as Name / Address, Subscription, Global Fees, Features & Settings, System Defaults, and Preferences. Hover the question icon next to a feature for a short explanation.
When you finish, scroll to the bottom and choose Save Settings. Changes do not save until you press that button. If a six-month review is due, a Required Settings Update banner tells you to review settings and choose Save Settings before continuing.
Feature numbers #1 through #54, subscription dates, global fees, terminology, timezone, and the twice-a-year review are the same on both layouts. New Horizon uses an Overview grid, Save changes, and automatic saving on many fields. The older layout keeps System Colors and Synchronize as their own tabs.
