New Horizon Experience. This article describes the New Horizon Experience, which is available now. In the Horizon WebRef mobile apps for Android and iOS, New Horizon is already what you see. On a computer or laptop you see it when you are in New Horizon. If you still have the older layout, choose Try the New Horizon Experience from the banner or your account menu. You can switch back from that menu any time.
Block Systems is where you record people, teams, locations, game codes, positions, or leagues that should not be scheduled together. Open Block Systems from Administrative Forms, under the Block Systems heading. Officials use it for their own list when the organization allows that. Assignors use it to review anyone, and to open the summary and the full list. Organization administrators turn each system on or off.
Use this article when you are turning a block system on, blocking a team or a partner, checking someone else's list, or reading who created a block. A block is a preference for the scheduler. It is not a guarantee. An assignor can still place that person on the game.
Turn a block system on
An organization administrator does this on System Settings, in Features & Settings. Search Block to open the Block Systems group. Features #4 through #9 each have a switch. Set it to On. Who can create blocks is the second choice:
Both parties lets officials edit their own list, and lets assignors edit it too.
Assignor only keeps editing with assignors. Officials do not get that list.
On a computer, the same group shows each system, with the switch and Who can create blocks on the row.
The six systems are Partner Block System (Feature #4), Team Block System (Feature #5), Location Block System (Feature #6), Game Code Block System (Feature #7), Position Block System (Feature #8), and League Block System (Feature #9). Your organization may use its own word for team, location, game code, or league. That word is what you see on the button. A system that is off is hidden. You will not see an empty placeholder for it.
Open the list
On Administrative Forms, the Block Systems heading lists only the systems that are on. The links are Partner Block List, Team Block List, Location Block List, Game Code Block List, League Block List, and Position Block List. The page title is Block Systems.
On a phone you see Eligible (Not Blocked) first, with a count and Search eligible.... Add Selected and Add All (Filtered) sit under that list. Blocked is further down the page. On a computer the two lists sit side by side. Green is eligible. Red is blocked. The line under the title says system blocks are a suggestion for the scheduler, and that they can be overridden by the scheduler at any time.
On a computer, the same screen shows both lists and the current block list.
Select the rows you want, then choose Add Selected to block them, or Remove Selected to put them back. Add All (Filtered) and Remove All (Filtered) follow the search box, not the whole catalog. Clear Filters empties the search. Moving rows saves the list. There is no separate Save button on this screen.
Current Block List For the person you are editing names each blocked item, Block Created By, and Delete. Delete asks you to confirm with Remove block? Choose Confirm to remove that one block, or Cancel to leave it.
Assignors pick whose list they are editing from the user menu at the top. Officials stay on their own list. The Teams button (or Partners, Locations, and the other types) switches which catalog you are blocking.
Utilities
Utilities is the gear on the block page. Assignors see Individual Block Lists, Block List By the current type, Mass Block Lists, Block Summary, and Full List of Blocks.
On a computer, the same menu opens from the same Utilities button.
Block List By a type starts from the team, location, game code, league, position, or partner, then chooses which people are blocked from it. Mass Block Lists is for assignors. It adds the same blocks for many people at once. It does not remove blocks. It is not offered for partners or positions. You choose the people and the items, read the warning, and choose Apply Blocks. The confirm step asks you to type APPLY before it continues.
Block Summary
Block Summary opens from Utilities. It is for assignors. Each row is a person, with You Created, Created By Others, and Total Blocks. Search with Search by User.
On a phone, scroll sideways if Total Blocks or Clear sits past the edge. On a computer, the same summary shows the full column headings, including Total Blocks.
Clear removes scheduler-created blocks for that person. An organization administrator clears blocks created by any scheduler, and does not clear blocks that person created for themselves. Another assignor clears only the blocks they created. The list does not print or export to a spreadsheet.
Full List of Blocks
Full List of Blocks is the line-by-line report, also from Utilities, and also for assignors. Filter with User, Block Type (or All block types), and Search. Each row names the person, the block type, the item, and Details with By and On.
On a computer, the same report uses the wider table.
A large organization can take a while to load this report. It stays on the screen. It does not print or export to a spreadsheet.
If you still see the older layout
On a computer or laptop, the older legacy layout stays until you choose Try the New Horizon Experience from the banner or your account menu. This article describes the New Horizon screen. On that older layout, Block Systems is still under Administrative Forms, and Features #4 through #9 are still on System Settings. The edit choice there may read as editable by officials and schedulers, or by schedulers only. The summary may say DELETE BLOCKS. Until that older layout is retired, use the English words you see there.
