What is my authentication pin?

Using and finding your 6-digit authentication pin

Updated over 2 weeks ago

If you are being prompted to enter a 6-digit Authentication PIN in addition to your username & password when trying to log in to the system, that means that you have enabled the optional Multi-Factor Authentication service on your user account, and you must use your authentication device to log in to your account. You may see this support article for instructions on how to use the Multi-Factor Authentication service, how to recover your account, and/or how to disable this optional functionality if desired.

Temporary Passwords

The 6-digit Authentication PIN should not be confused with the 3–4 digit numbers that the Horizon software issues during the password reset process. The separate 3 to 4-digit numbers represent your "temporary password" (i.e., your "current password") during the password reset process, which is usually a 4-digit numeric code emailed to you following a completed password reset. If prompted for the 3 to 4-digit code:

  • Locate the password reset email in your inbox (check your spam folder if needed).

  • Enter the 4-digit code from the email as your current password during login.

  • If prompted to set a new password, complete the process using the instructions provided in the system.

To retrieve the 6-digit authentication PIN:

  • Open your third-party authenticator app (e.g., Google Authenticator) on your mobile device.

  • Locate the 6-digit PIN displayed within the app (note: these codes refresh roughly every 30 seconds).

  • Input the PIN in the login screen alongside your username and password to proceed.

Troubleshooting tips:

  • Expired codes: If the code has expired, generate a new one by reopening your authenticator app or rechecking your password reset email.

  • Incorrect codes: Double-check your email or the authenticator app to ensure you’re using the correct code.

  • Unable to retrieve codes: If you can’t locate the needed code, consider resetting your password. You may see this support article for further instructions on how to use this service, how to recover your account, and/or how to disable this optional functionality if desired.
