New Horizon Experience. This article describes the New Horizon Experience. In the Horizon WebRef mobile apps for Android and iOS, New Horizon is already what you see. On a computer or laptop, choose Try the New Horizon Experience from the banner or your account menu. You can switch back from that menu any time.
Both layouts are in use right now. In the Horizon WebRef mobile apps for Android and iOS you see the New Horizon Experience. On a computer or laptop, the older legacy layout stays until you choose Try the New Horizon Experience from the banner or your account menu. Match the steps to the screen in front of you. When a control or rule exists on only one layout, this article says so. The steps below start with the New Horizon Experience in the apps, then cover that older desktop or laptop layout.
This article covers the assign window officiating managers and schedulers use when they tap Assign on a game in the Master Game Schedule. Officials who only work games do not open this window unless they also assign.
Watch the walkthrough, then use the steps below. The video shows the New Horizon Experience. On a computer or laptop, the older layout stays until you choose Try the New Horizon Experience from the banner or your account menu. That older layout is described at the end of this article.
Open the assign window
On the Master Game Schedule, tap Assign on a game. Assigning opens in its own window (not the shared tools window) and stays almost full screen so you can scan the list.
Game bar
A pinned game bar stays at the top of the screen (above the window) with the date, time, league, game code, teams or venue, openings, and how many people are needed versus already assigned. A short fill bar next to those counts turns from red to amber to green as the crew fills. People already on the game show as green name chips; an empty crew is marked in amber. Openings turn red when nobody is on the game yet, and green when every needed spot is filled. The assign window sits fully below that bar so the close control stays reachable.
On a computer, the same screen uses the wider layout.
Meetings
On a meeting, that bar shows how many people have accepted and how many are still waiting, not a name list, and it does not show needed or open slots. Names stay in the list below.
Remove someone
When you are allowed to remove someone (the same rules as the Master Game Schedule), tap Remove on their name chip to take them off, then assign someone else without leaving the list. On the Master Game Schedule hub, open the official dropdown on that name and choose Remove assignment.
On a computer, the same screen uses the wider layout.
Eligible and available
Eligible means the person qualifies for this game after all rules (rank, age, groups, block lists, site rules, and the calendar). Available means only the availability calendar. Someone can be available and still not eligible.
Title bar
Eligible, Ineligible, search, sort, email, position, and Assign selected all live in the window title bar so the list can use the full window. On a phone in the Horizon WebRef app those same title-bar controls stay at the top of the assign window. There is no Filters funnel and no side panel here; you are already on one game. The Eligible and Ineligible buttons show how many people are in each list. Switch there, and search by name too. After the first build, switching lists is instant. If you close Assign and open the same game again within about a minute, the list comes back right away. The list shows the same wait animation while it first builds or rebuilds, then the matching people. It paints the first group and adds more as you scroll, so large organizations stay responsive.
You can refine the people list with:
Eligible or Ineligible - switch which list you are viewing
Search - type a name
Sort - name, home city, game count, distance to the venue, rating, ranking, ranking 2, or random when those apply. TBA responses appears only when it applies to this game.
Contact group - when your organization has contact groups

Availability dots
A color dot sits to the left of each name for availability (green all day, amber limited, red unavailable, blue already scheduled). Hover or tap the dot the first time if you want the words; after that, scan the color.
Row details
Each row keeps city, rating, ranking, season game count, and turnbacks in compact columns so names stay fully visible. Each of those tiles repeats the column icon in front of the value, so you still know what the number is after the header scrolls away. Tap a name to open that person's menu for View profile, call, text, and metrics.
On a computer, the same screen uses the wider layout.
Eligible list
On the Eligible list, Before you assign marks a Review note when the person left an availability note. Tap it to read the note, plus direct or indirect conflicts, other assignments that day, and the person's prior game. Hover or tap a marker for time, venue, and organization.
On a computer, the same screen uses the wider layout.
Ineligible list
On the Ineligible list, the same column leads with why they are not eligible (the full reason, not an icon) so you can see calendar, block list, rank, or other rule misses at a glance. Those reasons use color so you can tell them apart quickly: amber for calendar and time, red for block lists and membership, blue when they are already assigned, and the organization color for rank or qualification. Rating and game-count tiles stay on the row, quieter, if you still want to override. Icons under the name still mark flex time, TBA responses, and account status.
Manual ranking does not hide a TBA request. The official still sees the listing and can respond. That response still appears here. If their rank misses a position requirement, they usually land on Ineligible, and the why text can say Ranking is below the requirement for a position.
On a computer, the same screen uses the wider layout.
Partial positions
When someone on Eligible qualifies for some positions but not others, Detailed cards (and the table on a larger screen) show a small red outline exclamation icon to the left of the position menu. Hover or tap it to read that some positions were not eligible, then tap it to open the details panel with each missed position and why. Compact cards hide that icon. When a list or search has nobody to show, a short empty message sits in the center of the list.
Assign a position
Position menus start blank. On Eligible, the menu lists only the positions that person can work. Choose a position (and mileage reimbursement if your organization uses it) for one person or for several people. The menu gets a green edge when a position is ready. Then tap Assign. Everyone who has a position chosen is assigned together. After a successful assign, the list stays where you were and the needed versus assigned counts update. The Master Game Schedule refreshes that game when you close the window.
On a computer, the same screen uses the wider layout.
You can still assign someone who is not eligible. Horizon asks you to confirm, and the assignment is marked as an override. If a block list would stop the assignment, Horizon asks before you ignore the block.
The usual workflow is to assign on an unpublished game, fill every opening, then publish from the Master Game Schedule so officials can see and accept the work.
When games are linked, eligibility is checked across the whole group (2 to 7 games). If the person is ineligible for one game in the group, they are ineligible for the set until you fix the miss or unlink the games.
Metrics, email, and map
Profile and metrics
Tap a person's photo, or tap View profile in their name menu, to open their profile in a second window on top of the assign list. Metrics in that same menu opens a colorful snapshot for that person against this game. Shaded tiles show season load, upcoming work, turnbacks, acceptance, and (when your organization uses them) declines, rating, and ranking. Acceptance includes declines and turnbacks from assignment history, not only accepted versus still pending.
A short read answers the questions you need before you assign: overexposed or new to this team (or venue when there are no teams), working a lot or not enough versus a typical official, new or ready at this game code (or league), and whether they often decline or turn work back. Charts appear only when there is something to show: familiarity with the teams and venue, positions this season, games by month, and the accept mix. The list stays exactly where you left it. Scroll, search, filters, and selections do not reload. Closing the profile, metrics, email, or the map brings you back to the same people.
On a computer, the same screen uses the wider layout.
Call, text, email, and map
Call and text in the name menu use cell, home, or work, and text uses the cell number. Call and text include the country code from that person's profile so numbers in other countries still connect. You can email selected, eligible, or ineligible people. The map pin on the game bar opens the venue when an address exists.
Phone cards
On a phone, use Detailed cards for every field, or Compact to see more people. Hidden details stay one tap away.
If you still see the older legacy desktop or laptop layout
On desktop or laptop, assigning may still open in the older window until you choose Try the New Horizon Experience from the banner or your account menu. Open it from the Assign icon in the Action column on the Master Game Schedule. The list of people who qualify is labeled Eligible Officials. To assign someone who does not qualify, choose Show Ineligible Officials in the top toolbar, then assign and confirm the override.
If you are not sure why someone is ineligible, open View Diagnostics (or the Diagnostics Table) from that older toolbar. That table lists the rule that missed, such as rank, a block list, or the availability calendar. Available still means only the calendar. Eligible still means the person qualifies after all rules.
