How to reset your username or password

Recover your login when you cannot sign in. Horizon emails new credentials and can also text them when a verified mobile number is on your account.

New Horizon Experience. This article describes the New Horizon Experience, which is available now. As of September 28, 2026, New Horizon is the default starting point on a computer or laptop. In the Horizon WebRef mobile apps for Android and iOS, New Horizon is already what you see. If you still have the older layout, choose Switch to New Horizon from the banner or your account menu. You can switch back to Legacy Horizon from that menu any time during the transition.

Username and password resets must be started by the account holder. Organization administrators cannot reset someone else’s login for them from this forgotten-password flow. Use it when you forgot your credentials, or when you never received an initial welcome email after joining.

Start from forgotten username/password

On the login page, choose Forgot your password? (or forgotten username), or open https://horizonwebref.com/forgot in a browser (including on a phone).

Sign In on a phone. Forgot your password is circled next to the Password label.

Enter the email on your account

Type the email address that is on file for your account. Password resets cannot be started with a phone number alone. If you do not know which email is stored, ask your organization to look it up in the Members Directory.

Recover Login Credentials on a phone. Email address is filled in and Start Password Reset is ready.

Confirm your identity by call or text

Horizon asks you to confirm a phone number already on your account by call or text, including numbers outside the United States and Canada when that number is verified on your profile. Enter the 6-digit code you hear or receive. That code is not your password.

On a phone, keep the recovery page open while you take the call or open the text, then return and enter the code without reloading the page if you can.

Get your new username and password

Horizon emails your new username and password (subject line Password Reset Request). Check Inbox, Spam, Junk, Promotions, and Trash. Usernames and passwords are case sensitive — enter them exactly as shown.

If you have a verified mobile number that can receive texts, Horizon also sends those same credentials by text. If you no longer have access to the email but still have that verified mobile, you can still complete the reset with the old email on file and read the credentials from the text.

You can usually reset only once per day. Support cannot email or chat you a password manually.

After you sign in with the temporary password, open Password or Personal Profile Security and set a permanent password. See How do I customize my username or password?.

When the usual path is blocked

If you lost the physical phone but still control the number with your carrier, ask the carrier to forward calls or texts to another device until you replace the phone.

Keep a backup phone number verified on Personal Profile when you can. If you changed both email and phone and have no backup, the account may be unrecoverable and you may need to register again at https://horizonwebref.com/newUser.

If the email is not found, you may have no account yet, your organization may have removed the membership, or a self-registration may still be waiting for organization approval. Horizon support cannot approve memberships for your organization.

For other blocked cases (no access to the verification number), contact Horizon support through the in-product messenger and ask to talk to a person after you describe the issue. That conversation must be from the account holder, not a third party. Alternative verification can take up to about 10 business days.

If you still see the older layout

On a computer or laptop, the older legacy layout stays only if you switched back to Legacy Horizon. As of September 28, 2026, New Horizon is the default starting point. Choose Switch to New Horizon from the banner or your account menu to return after you sign in. The forgotten-password page itself is shared before you are signed in — follow the English words on that form. Email delivery still applies; when a verified mobile can receive texts, credentials are also sent by text as described above.
